Self-employed with a small income offered to exempt from tax
In 2020, the State Duma proposed to exempt the self-employed with a small income from the tax. This decision was motivated by the stimulation of the economic sector and the development of small businesses. During the epidemic, it is the self-employed who can support the economy. Since the start of the program, more than 1.5 million people have registered in the system.
Increased tax deduction
The fully self-employed were not exempt from the tax, but an increased tax deduction was provided. This is a bonus of up to 10,000 rubles, which allows you to pay a tax of 3 to 4%, depending on who the self-employed person works with.
The bonus allows you to pay only 3% instead of 4% when working with individuals, as well as 4% instead of 6% when working with companies. Gradually, the amount of the tax deduction decreases, and at some point the rate returns to its original size.
The deduction for the self-employed is an opportunity to pay less taxes, especially on small incomes. In 2020, the initiators of the project on the release of microbusiness from tax encumbrances planned to completely remove the tax on income that does not exceed the subsistence minimum.
However, this initiative has not been applied. But the self-employed can get additional benefits when registering in the amount of a little more than 12,000 rubles.
The self-employed are promised new benefits
Today, the State Duma is trying to refine the system and make the program more attractive for those who are now unable or unwilling to register as self-employed. It is planned to make the income bar floating (today the program is designed for people who earn no more than 2.4 million rubles a year).
The state also intends to provide self-employed people with support, make it easier for them to obtain loans and participate in various programs. At the moment, officially registered taxpayers face problems.
At the same time, it is still necessary to monitor the work of organizations that may well dismiss employees and transfer them to the self-employed mode. For companies, this is beneficial, and employees will remain without contributions to the pension fund.
Some officials are confident that the program does not need to be improved. Today, it works perfectly, and people are actively registering in it. In 2020 alone, about 1 million Russians registered. 130 billion rubles were withdrawn from the shadow, of which 3 billion rubles were withdrawn. it was paid as taxes. Updating the program makes it unstable, undermines people's trust.
